Evolutionary Game Theory Squared: Evolving Agents in Endogenously Evolving Zero-Sum Games

چکیده
The predominant paradigm in evolutionary game theory and more generally online learning games is based on a clear distinction between population of dynamic agents that interact given fixed, static game. In this paper, we move away from the artificial divide games, to introduce analyze large class competitive settings where both they play evolve strategically over time. We focus arguably most archetypal game-theoretic setting---zero-sum (as well as network generalizations)---and studied dynamic---replicator, continuous-time analogue multiplicative weights. Populations compete against each other zero-sum competition itself evolves adversarially current mixture. Remarkably, despite chaotic coevolution prove system exhibits number regularities. First, has conservation laws an information-theoretic flavor couple behavior all games. Secondly, Poincare recurrent, with effectively possible initializations lying recurrent orbits come arbitrarily close their initial conditions infinitely often. Thirdly, time-average agent utility converge Nash equilibrium values Finally, provide polynomial time algorithm efficiently predict for any such coevolving

متن کاملReplicator Dynamics with Feedback-Evolving Games: Towards a Co-Evolutionary Game Theory
A tragedy of the commons occurs when individuals take actions to maximize their payoffs even as their combined payoff is less than the global maximum had the players coordinated. The originating example is that of over-grazing of common pasture lands. In game theoretic treatments of this example there is rarely consideration of how individual behavior subsequently modifies the commons and assoc...
متن کاملDecision Theory III - Zero Sum Games
Game theory is a huge area of mathematical (and economical) research. We restrict ourselves mainly to two person zero-sum games, in which you make a decision and your opponent makes a decision (no cooperation allowed!), and your winnings equal your opponents loss. The main result is the so-called minimax theorem. Essentially, game theory is about playing against a (possibly) better player and e...

The paradigm of agent based computing is becoming increasingly popular both in distributed artiicial intelligence and as a general software engineering technique. The diiculty with agent based computing is that success depends not just on the correctness of any one agent, but on the emergent behaviour arising from the interaction of a society of agents. As a consequence, the problem of programm...
متن کاملEvolving Neural Network Agents in the NERO Video Game
In most modern video games, character behavior is scripted; no matter how many times the player exploits a weakness, that weakness is never repaired. Yet if game characters could learn through interacting with the player, behavior could improve during gameplay, keeping it interesting. This paper introduces the real-time NeuroEvolution of Augmenting Topologies (rtNEAT) method for evolving increa...
